2.1.4 General information

Additional information : The contracting entity will make use if the exemption rule in Supply Regulations (FYF) § 7-9 (4) (5). The regulations state the use of minimum requirements, instead of the use of environment as an award criterion, is allowed if that clearly has a larger benefit for environment. As a minimum requirement in the contract, the supplier must align with the European Union’s Taxonomy current provisions for sustainable data centres. This is in line with The Norwegian Agency for Public and Financial Management (DFØ)s recommendation when procuring SaaS-solutions. The most significant climate and environmental impact from the procurement of software as a service is associated with the data centre from which the software is run. Reduction of this climate and environmental impact can be achieved and documented by following the framework set by the EU taxonomy for sustainable data centres. By setting this as a minimum requirement, rather than an award criterion, we have a better opportunity to achieve that the chosen solution use a sustainable data centre to run the service.
