Title : Market dialogue regarding study and analysis of the transport of dangerous goods by rail
Description : The Danish Civil Aviation and Railway Authority is the railway safety authority in Denmark and is responsible for approving railway infrastructure and vehicles and supervising railway safety. This includes the transport of dangerous goods by rail ac-cording to BJ 5 070.001-2017 ("Regulations on the transport of explosives in the rail-way tunnels on the Great Belt and Oresund"), which sets quantity limits for the transport of explosives of 5 tonnes per wagon in the Great Belt tunnel and 1 tonne per wagon in the Oresund tunnel. The Danish Civil Aviation and Railway Authority needs a study, including a risk as-sessment, to examine whether the current volume limitations of 1 tonne and 5 tonnes per wagon in relation to the development are safe today or whether they need to be adjusted. As the future Fehmarn link is scheduled to open in 2029, the study will also need to include a possible volume restriction for the transport of explosives in the railway tunnels of the Fehmarn link. In addition, the study must analyse the safety risk of allowing a passenger train and a freight train carrying dangerous goods other than explosives to travel in the same railway tunnel tube at the same time.
