2.1.4 General information

Additional information : In addition to the issuance and management of EU laissez-passer travel documents, the contract foresees all supplies and maintenance services for the rendering of mandatory services implied to the Union as official Issuing Authority of an ICAO 9303-compliant electronic passport and as participant in the interoperation between Member States for border control within the Schengen area. The contract will involve access to, handling and/or storage of information classified up to the level SECRET UE/EU SECRET, which is subject to the security rules for protecting EU classified information laid down in Commission Decision (EU, Euratom) 2015/444 of 13 March 2015 and to that Decision’s implementing rules. Facility security clearance will be required as well as personnel security clearances for contractor's personnel handling classified information. Special security obligations will be part of the contract (Security Aspects Letter, annexed to the contract). Subcontracting will be subject to the prior written agreement of the contracting authority and subcontractors (as well as subcontractors' personnel) will have to comply with all the relevant security rules.In case of unavailability or disruptions in the functioning of the electronic means of communication provided in Section 5.1.11 in the last 5 calendar days before the time limit for receipt indicated in Section 5.1.12, the contracting authority reserves the right to extend this time limit and publish the extension at the Internet address provided in Section 5.1.11, without a preceding publication of a corrigendum to this notice. Economic operators interested in this procurement are invited to subscribe to the call for tenders at the address in Section 5.1.11 in order to get notified when new information or documents are published.
