Title : Invitation to M5 Metro Line - Information Meeting
Description : Dear potential tenderer Metroselskabet is inviting you to participate in an information meeting with potential interested contractors with interest in the construction of the new M5 metro line in Copenhagen. We are pleased to inform you that The Government and The City of Copenhagen have just reached an political agreement to construct the new M5 Metro Line project in Copenhagen, with nine stations between Copenhagen Central Station and Lynetteholm across Amager. The line is expected to open in two stages in 2036 and 2045 respectively. The goal of M5 is to provide efficient public transport to both existing urban areas that currently do not have metro service (on Amager), as well as new urban development areas, including in the East Harbour (Kløverparken, Refshaleøen and Lynetteholm). The M5 will also add an extra connection across the harbour. The new line will be approx. 15.7 km long standalone metro line with up to 9 stations in total, some underground and some elevated. Some stations and part of the line will be underground in existing dense city environment, and some will be in new city districts that are not yet developed. The first stage is expected to be approx. 6 km. bored twin tunnel with 5 underground stations, approx. 2 km viaducts and 1 elevated station. For the Civil works the project includes construction of tunnels, underground stations and shafts, mechanical and electrical works, elevated sections and stations, ramps, architectural finishes etc. For the transportation system the project includes rolling stock, scada, signalling, passenger information system, power supply, control and maintenance center etc. The first stage is expected to be inaugurated in 2036. Following the adoption of the construction act Metroselskabet expects the procurement process to start in 2026. The second stage is assumed to be inaugurated in 2045 and will be procured in separate contracts. Metroselskabet has set the following 4 project goals for the project: • Reduce the use of resources and climate impact: Metroselskabet has an ambition to reduce the carbon footprint from future metro lines with 50% compared to the existing metro. • Improve passenger experience and operational robustness. It is important to make the public transport system, including the metro, as attractive to people as possible to increase usage. As part of that, operational robustness and reliable service are essential. Not only does a good public transport network provide better mobility solutions in the city but greater use reduces the ’invested CO2’ per passenger km and therefore also a key aspect of sustainability. • Improve safety and the working environment Everyone should be able to work without accidents or injuries, both in construction and operations of the new metro line. • A contribution to the city. A new Metro line should physically meet and connect with the city in a way that creates urban space quality and leave space for increased urban biodiversity. At the market dialogue Metroselskabet would like to discuss the following topics. In light of this development, we would like to invite you to a 30-minute information meeting to discuss the forthcoming process. This session will be conducted via Microsoft Teams and is scheduled for 29th of April at 2:30PM-3:00PM . Please note that this will be a group meeting; individual sessions will be arranged at a later stage as the project progresses. To confirm your participation and receive the Teams meeting link, kindly inform [ VIJ@m.dk & NKM@m.dk ]. We look forward to your attendance and to share more details about the M5 Metro Line project. Kind Regards, Metroselskabet I/S
