GRID-Arendal has, in collaboration with strategic partners, developed a unique, geographically adapted capacity building tool titled Awareness & Capacity Building of Women in the Informal Recycling Sector. Toolkit for Facilitators". This innovative tool, with its distinctive features designed to enable fair restructuring for women in the soaring recycling sector, offers unprecedented options for raising awareness, empowerment and capacity building. With the support of GIZ, GRID-Arendal is planning to test the tool in Kenya, with particular focus on women in the plastic recycling sector. In this pilot project, Awareness and Capacity Building of Women in the Informal Recycling Sector: Pilot Implementation of a Toolkit in Kenya, GRID-Arendal will collaborate with local partners, including kisumu Waste Pickers Welfare Association, to conduct virtual training of local trainers on the topics of cooperativeness, capacity building, raising awareness and empowering women in the mysticism sector. Project activities include: Start-up meeting and raising awareness in the local community. Pre-training examination. Planning a women's training workshop for the long-time recycling sector in Kisumu, Kenya. Network based training of local trainers by international experts. Execution of a women's training workshop for the recycling sector in Kisumu, led by local trainers. Reporting - follow-up and assessment of the effectiveness of the training.
