Justification for direct award : The contract can be provided only by a particular economic operator because of an absence of competition for technical reasons
Other justification : To achieve the function described above, the direct electron detector must: 1) be compatible with current infrastructure hardware (200kV Glacios cryo electron microscope). 2) be embedded into the current software infrastructure. 3) allow reliable sub- pixel-accurate electron counting. 4) have an internal frame rate of at least 320 fps. 5) allow electron event representation (EER). 6) allow for super resolution without the need for data fractionation. 7) Enable DQE at >0.9 at low frequency and 0.33 at higher spatial frequency. We have been in contact with the other main producer of direct electron detector, Gatan. Their imaging system is not directly compatible with our Glacios microscope, and they are also unable to meet our budget demands. Thus, the combination of these requirements described above are fulfilled exclusively by FEI Europe BV Holland filial Sverige (Thermo Fisher).
