Title : 24/01409 Procurement of GC-MS/MS with pyrolysis function - Norwegian Institute of Public Health
Description : The instrument shall be used to identify and quantify trace amounts of microplastics, plastic chemicals, PCBs, pesticides and PBDEer in different matrixes. A major commitment to the environment and health field over many years has been analyses of environmental pollution in human samples. We are among the leading laboratories in Europe within such analyses. In order to also follow up how people are exposed to microplastics, we will establish equivalent analysis techniques at FHI that can be combined with analysis of POP. We have both external assignments where FHI receives income and participate with analyses in different research projects where we are as partners. These are analyses that are after sports and that make FHI attractive as a partner and have been a very important factor in participating in several EU projects. The need for the procurement is due to the fact that we currently have no such instrumentation in place. In order to measure microplastics in human samples, a pyrolysis device is used that is connected to the injector of the GM before the sample is analysed in a mass spectrometer (MS/MS). Microplastics will be in very low concentrations in the samples and we therefore need state-of-the art instrumentation (pyrGC-MS/MS) that has sensitivity in the low nanogram area and is robust enough to analyse a large number of samples for a large width of both plastic polymers and organic environmental pollution (e.g. PCB, DDT, HCB, PBDE). In order to carry out the large number of analyses we want, it is important that the instrument has a high guaranteed running time, has an efficient and flexible software, and that the tenderer can provide good servicing on all instrumentation of the procurement.
