Title : Request for Information for ATM (Air Traffic Management) System for Isavia ANS
Description : Isavia ANS is responsible for one of the largest airspaces in the world, covering 5.4 million square kilometres; and is looking to upgrade its Flight Data Processing System (FDPS) and Air Traffic Management (ATM) systems. The current ATM system covers both oceanic and continental enroute and is interoperable with Approach (APP) and other 3rd party applications. The current enroute (ENR) system was originally bought from Canadian Aviation Electronics (CAE Inc) after which Isavia ANS was given full access to the software code and given rights to make updates – making it independent from the manufacturer. Having the ability to independently control and update the software has offered great value to Isavia ANS. The infrastructure and hardware of the current system is reaching its end-of-life, so Isavia ANS is under a strict deadline to update its enroute, oceanic and approach systems, to ensure continued capacity and alignment to regulation but more importantly to adhere to the global vision of Air Navigation Services (ANS), especially within the North Atlantic (NAT) Region. Higher-than-expected traffic demand in the Reykjavík Control Area (BIRD CTA) has significantly reduced the time initially projected to be available. Isavia ANS prides itself as being a strong and competent service provider in the NAT Region. Any delays in updating the ATM system within the desired time frame could jeopardize that position. To address this challenge, Isavia ANS is exploring all available options, including the procurement of commercial systems from established vendors. Market engagement began in Airspace World 2024, where Isavia ANS entered into discussions with vendors to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the capabilities available in the market. This RFI seeks to understand the Oceanic, ENR and APP capabilities available on the market, ensuring alignment with Isavia ANS’ Strategic, Operational, Technical and Financial needs. Isavia ANS has commences discussions with a number of recognized ATM system suppliers to assist us in being able to accurately define our system requirements if/when we go to tender. Other interested parties are invited to contact us at ingi.thoris@isavia.is to demonstrate their capabilities in this regard.
