the service provider’s offices
The overall objective of this project is to contribute to SGSSI’s low-carbon energy transition by assessing the technical feasibility, environmental impact and financial implications (3 workstreams) of increased solar energy and battery storage deployment for reaching net zero in the SGSSI environment.
The project will provide the SGSSI Government with a range of costed options for the transition to a net zero power system, through generation processes, effective energy storage, and efficiency improvements for the locations of King Edward Point/Grytviken and Bird Island.
If proven positive at this stage, the project should provide clear direction and recommendations on key action points for continued development and implementation. The outcomes should consider the enhanced resilience required for operating in a sub-Antarctic environment. The outcome will provide the basis for an energy transformation strategy for South Georgia.
This assignment requires expertise and experience in the following areas, preferably in arctic or antarctic remote island or similar environment: energy engineering, economics and finance, and environmental impact assessment (marine ecology) of renewable energy project development.
