The JT-60SA project, in its function of satellite tokamak for ITER, faces the recent need to achieve a faster transition to a full metallic machine (i.e. from carbon based plasma facing components to tungsten ones), as well as a slightly tighter requirement on cobalt content for stainless steel material. (Process # 248782)
7.1.1 Change
Description of modifications
:
The JT-60SA project, in its function of satellite tokamak for ITER, faces the recent need to achieve a faster transition to a full metallic machine (i.e. from carbon based plasma facing components to tungsten ones), as well as a slightly tighter requirement on cobalt content for stainless steel material. The deviation from the original contract contains a fixed part and an optional part: - In the fixed part, which amounts to EUR 1,499,211.39, the supplier is asked to extend the detailed engineering activities, already included in the contract for the graphite divertor, to the detailed engineering design of normal heat flux components with bulk tungsten armour. The supplier is also asked to procure the additional materials required to manufacture the tungsten version of the heat sinks and supports. This includes additional CuCrZr/SS explosion bonded plates and stainless steel plates. The supplier is asked to replace the original formulation of stainless steel (i.e. max 2000ppm Cobalt) with the new specification (i.e. max 500ppm Cobalt) - In the optional part, amounting to EUR 1,810,029.50, the supplier is asked to fabricate the NHF components to suit the tungsten divertor design, and to procure the bulk tungsten tiles and the corresponding fasteners in place of the original graphite tiles and molybdenum screws. In the event that the optional part is not released, in addition to what was originally specified in the contract, the supplier shall perform the tungsten divertor engineering activities, procure the additional material and update the formulation of stainless steel. The contracting authority will assume the extra costs associated with these activities. Should the optional part be released, in addition to everything associated with the fixed part of this deviation, the supplier shall modify the original fabrication plans of the NHF components to the tungsten divertor design and procure the bulk tungsten tiles and associated fasteners. The contracting authority will assume the extra costs associated with these activities, except for the price of the graphite tiles and molybdenum fasteners that are no longer needed and shall be de-scoped. With this deviation, the new Total Contract Price is EUR 11,089,379.79.
