Title : Market Consultation Redundant Data Link
Description : TenneT invites interested parties to participate in a market consultation aimed at outlining the requirements for a redundant telecommunications network with subsea fibre optic cable connections. This subsea network will connect newly constructed offshore platforms as part of TenneT’s 2GW Program. TenneT is looking for parties for the supply and installation of multiple fibre optic subsea cable routes of each 12-30 km long. The redundant telecommunications network will serve as a critical backup to ensure the reliable operation of both the Grid Connection System and the connected offshore wind farms, safeguarding against telecommunications malfunctions. The 2GW Program focuses on the development of at least 14 high-voltage direct current (HVDC) offshore grid connection systems, each with a capacity of 2 gigawatts (GW), across the Dutch and German North Sea by 2031. This initiative will significantly contribute to achieving offshore wind energy and climate goals for the Netherlands, Germany, and Europe. Once completed, the program will deliver a total capacity of 28 GW of green wind energy, capable of supplying power to up to 35 million households. We invite participation from parties with expertise in submarine fibre optic cable systems, including design, manufacturing, project management, and installation (laying and burial). Participants are encouraged to share insights on a.o. technical feasibility of the proposed system, manufacturer capabilities and production capacity, scheduling, delivery and installation times, and resource requirements. Interested parties meeting the criteria are invited to submit their applications to dick.minkema@tennet.eu . Applications must be submitted no later than Friday, 14th of February 2025. Further instructions will be provided to applicants via email after the submission of applications. The feedback received during this consultation will help refine the project scope and develop the statement of work for the subsequent tender(s).We look forward to your contributions and insights to help shape this important initiative for a sustainable energy future.
