Title : Auditing the mapping methodology in the forestry conservation work.
Description : The Norwegian Environment Agency intends to enter into a contract with the Norwegian Institute for Nature Research (NINA) for a revised mapping methodology in the forestry work. NINA will carry out the assignment in cooperation with the Norwegian Institute for Bioeconomy (NIBIO), The University of Life Sciences (NMBU) and the Natural History Museum (NHM) at the University of Oslo. The assignment includes revising the mapping methodology in the forestry conservation work. See the current "Instructions for natural registrations in the forestry conservation work - Version 1-2022." Since the current mapping method was adopted, a new version of NiN has been introduced and a new red list will be launched in 2025 for nature types. Relevant new knowledge has also been published, including, among other things, knowledge on forest dynamics and how the forest must be expected to be affected by climate change. Nature in Norway (NIN) shall form the basis for mapping nature under public management. The assignment shall suggest how NIN3.0 shall be used for mapping the forestry work. It shall be proposed which variables should be registered and rules for figuring property areas. Based on the acquired NIN data, it shall be sealed how a protection index ought to be calculated. The methodology for mapping shall ensure that red-list nature types in forests (the red list 2025) are in the mapping result.
